Makeup Brush Cleaning
Okay, so I’m going to tell you a secret… I washed my makeup brushes for the first time in years… okay… maybe ever. Gross right? Feel free to judge me now. Or maybe you are guilty of this too???? I was bored on a Friday night, pretty standard around here for the last few years, so naturally, I decided to wash my makeup brushes. Doesn’t everyone do that?
Anyway, it was super easy and totally necessary if you want to keep bacteria off your face. Also, I tend to use all my brushes for all of my colors and then eventually they start to all make a horrible green/brown yuck color. So read on and find out how to make your own brush cleaner.
Or skip the work (since you should be washing your brushes weekly) and purchase a brush cleaner. Order brush cleaner from me here. Plus, every single purchase of a brush set or a brush cleaner and you will get a free silicone cleaning mat or bowl. Your choice. I wanted a bigger bowl to do this in so I love my silicone suction mat.
- 1 Cup Water, I used tap but you can do distilled or anything that floats your boat1 Tbsp Olive Oil (or fractionated coconut) Keeps your brushes silky smooth
- 2 Tbsp White Vinegar,
- 1 TBsp Dawn Dish Soap, you maybe could use regular dish soap but I love the grease cutting properties.
- 1-2 drops TeaTree Oil, Natural Antibacterial
- 1-2 Drops Lavender Oil Smells lovely and actually good for your skin
Pro Tip – Make extra and put it in a glass jar for future brush cleaning.
That’s it!! I have incorporated brush cleaning into my weekly routine. I did start using the SenseCosmetics Brush Cleaner since it’s so much easier if I’m pinched for time. But the DIY version is killer too.
Keep it clean sistas!
